 permission denied? - 2006/12/11 22:20 I am getting this error upon installing.
creating /usr/local/lib/python2.4/site-packages/palabre
error: could not create '/usr/local/lib/python2.4/site-packages/palabre': Permission denied

Can anyone give me a lead on what this could be?

You have to be root on the server to install Palabre.
If you're not root you may be able to start it via the quickstarter only, but you may have issues with the firewall after that ...

That could be done if you chroot into youre account, but anyway if you're not root on the computer it's better to start always palabre via the quickstarter, and not to install it.

The same configuration can be achieve by editing the local ./palabre-0.5/etc/palabre.conf file

The only difference is that you don't have the startup script, but as simple user you won't be able to make scripts run at startup.

I think I actually succeded using a virtual python install.. (http://forums.site5.com/showthread.php?t=10236) and some,eh, modificationsof the paths.. IT is giving me an error about not finding the pid file though, which I could no change the path for yet.
