using legacy fla - 2006/11/07 22:46 Question,
I've got a flash applicatoin that uses the macromedia commserver. Can itbe adapted to use this instead? it has some serverside action script that had to be installed in the commserver for it to run and I need to create rooms on the comserver with also contain a few files. I noticed that when I ran palabre there is no equivelnet to the the rooms (which end up being urls) from macromedia comm server. Have I got it all wrong?

Re:using legacy fla - 2006/11/08 14:55 Hi

I don't think that it's going to be easy to migrate from flashcom to Palabre.
The process is really not the same, and Palabre is only meant to "connect" multiple Flash clients together.
There is currently no "serverside" scripting implemented.
You can create rooms, send room messages, private messages, but you can't define specific serverside actions through Palabre.
The rooms in Palabre doesn't have the same "urls" scheme that Flashcomm. You don't create "rooms" on the server but rooms are automaticaly created when the first client joins them (currently no persistent rooms).
Palabre acts more like an IRC server and is only usefull for multiplayer actions.

SORRY, website is currently mostly broken due to software changes on the server.
Hope to fix it soon ...

In the meantime you may still download palabre or use the forum
