It should show

What happens when you
------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you find out what Microsoft system your computer is using?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once you have your Red5 server installed, either write down the IP address of the server or get a FQDN for that server. You will
Page 5
need it in order for Red5 to work. Localhost will not work.

-------------------------------
Installation
-------------------------------

1. copy this folder (languagelab) into the moodle(root)/mod folder.
2. Login to Moodle with admin rights.
3. In the Site Administration block, click on Notifications. This will setup the database tables for the languagelab module
4. In the Site Administration block, select Modules – Activities – Manage activities
5. Locate Language lab and click on settings
6. Enter the IP address or the FQDN that you noted previously in the field and save changes. Remember, you cannot use localhost, even if Red5 is installed on the same physical server.

Your done. Go into a course, turn editing on and add a language lab activity.
Path to your Red5 serverlanguagelab_red5server

Default: Enter the IP address or the fully qualified name for your red5 server. Localhost will not work!
Path to your Red5 server
Enter a prefix for recorded streams.languagelab_prefix

Default: mdl
The prefix here is usefull if the red5 server is used to stream other material. You will be able to easliy identify recorded streams
XML Socket Server Addresslanguagelab_xssAddress

Default: Enter the IP address or FQDN of your XML socket server
The IP address or fully qualified name of the XML Socket Server.
XML Socket Server port.languagelab_xssPort

Default: 4065
The port number used by XML Socket Server.
Maximum number of users.languagelab_max_users

Default: 25
Maximum number of users that can use the language lab simultaniously.
Activate stealth mode?languagelab_stealthMode

wnload the latest Red5 server from http://osflash.org/red5 . During installation it is recommended to keep the default values ( at least the rtmp ports and handling red5 as service ). After the installation start the red5 service from the windows services list.
Now you can start a browser and test the welcome page of red5 http://localhost:5080/. ( if you have chosen the http port 5080 at the installation ) If everything is ok, click on the "demos" link ( http://localhost:5080/demos/ ) and start the OFLA Demo, which is a small video streaming application. Here first connect to your red5 server by clicking on the "connect" button at the upper right corner. Right after that happened some sample videos will appear in a list. Click on one of these videos and it is streamed from your red5 server to this demo browser application.
If all this is running properly, we can start to build up our own application.
Therefore you should watch the great video tutorials here : http://www.flashextensions.com/tutorials.phpThe red5 section can be found at page 2. You should watch everything, which is related to the red5 server application ( which are the red5 video tutorials 1 - 18 ). But to follow building the necessary client application, they require you to have expensive adobe editor tools. At this point I've started my online voyage for some open source solutions or other tutorials dealing with open source flash clients. But however, flash applications, even there are millions of them out there, are very rare in the open source field. Additionally the development of red5 started in ActionScript 2 - times, what means, that the source code of many red5 client applications are written in AS2. Unfortunately AS2 is not completely compatible to today's AS3, which has also an effect to such red5 clients.

---------------------------------------------

Explanation to start the Palabre server
First you may want to adapt the listening interface and port on your server
Default is all the interfaces and port 2468
To change this behavior, edit PalabreStart.py and change this line :
myServer = PalabreServer('',2468,rootPassword)
Then to start :
Linux
With most linux distributions, you may already have python installed (in almost any distribution)
so just type :
# python PalabreStart.py
And that should do it.

Windows
The simple way is to download Python http://www.python.org
And to double click on PalabreStart.py

The language lab requires the following server technology to function properly
Red5 Media Server (version .8 download: http://127.0.0.1:5080/admin

XML Socket Server (palabre. download: http://palabre.gavroche.net/)

-----------
/var/www/moodle/filter/simplespeak/
Download and unzip the code files. Copy to the directory on the server, eg.
/var/www/moodle/filter/simplespeak/
Log in to Moodle as admin, visit `Site Administration | Modules | Filters | Manage Filters`. Scroll down and click on the icon for Simplespeak to enable it. Choose SimpleSpeak under Filters, and add a TTS service. Or set in config.php, eg.
$CFG->simplespeak_service_url =
'http://example.org/cgi-bin/espeak/getsound.pl?lang=!LANG&text=!TEXT';
The string can contain two placeholders, !TEXT and optionally !LANG (language). This service can be local, or third-party - see Readme. Ensure that the directory $CFG->dataroot is writeable by the Apache user, or create a writeable cache directory,
$CFG->dataroot/simplespeak/cache/

Run "pydoc <name>" to show documentation on something. <name> may be
the name of a function, module, package, or a dotted reference to a
class or function within a module or module in a package.
Run "pydoc -b" to start an HTTP server on an arbitrary unused port and
open a Web browser to interactively browse documentation. The -p option
can be used with the -b option to explicitly specify the server port.

For platforms without a command line, "pydoc -g" starts the HTTP server
and also pops up a little window for controlling it. This option is
deprecated, since the server can now be controlled directly from HTTP
clients.

Run "pydoc -w <name>" to write out the HTML documentation for a module

Module docs for core modules are assumed to be in

Re:Palabre INSTALLATION - 2011/05/14 16:12 UPDATE ON PALABRE INSTALLATION:

Running (trying to run) Palabre program, attempt produces the following message:

Stating: "(no log file has been specified
Plabre is running on local Interface
connect to BDD skipped)"

(message: Palabre will only print log con sole Running on 127.0.0.1 port 2468

No other computer will be able to access it 3 Modules<s> to load
Module dbWueeries Loaded

Suggested Instruction:
For Palabre, go into the config file usaually found in “etc/palabre.conf” and add the log file location (logfile). By Default, if there is no log file location, it send logs to console. while you're in the config file, also set the “allowedomains” value to reflect your domain.

RESULT of attempt:
I can not find "plabre.conf file in the "etc" folder.
ANY Suggestions ..................
Nor can I access the file inside the 'etc folder"
Only folder in 'etc' is named Plabre, can not find program to open that file ...

Greatly appreciate any help, donation forthcoming, when this works ..
