Brent Visitor	Password not working - 2007/01/22 20:19 Hi, I changed the palabre.conf file's admin part to read [admin] password = mypass I then ran one of my apps and tried to connect, thinking I wouldn't be able to, but it connected just as normal and worked fine. Did I do something wrong?

There are not much admin functions yet.

So you can connect as admin via :
<connect nickname="XXX" rootpass="yourpass" />

but won't get much more things to do :

<shutdown /> # to shutdown palabre

<getinfo room="XYZ" /> # to get few informations about the rooms, users, ...

<rmuser nickName="XYZ" /> # to kick a user

I think that's it :)

I mean if they know the domain your running it off and your port number they can easily connect with their own flash and mess stuff up. Is there any way to prevent this? Thanks!

There's no way to prevent someone to connect to your server via a "local" flash. (flash exe application, telnet connection ...)
But nobody can host an SWF on another web server and use your Palabre server.
That's the point of the "crossdomain" policy. You define which web servers can connect to your Palabre server.

I guess I'll just make sure to hide the IP and port really well or something then. If it's not much trouble that might be a cool feature to add in future palabres :D. Great app btw, I will definetly donate once I get money my paypal!

As far as I know there's unfortunately no way to prevent the 'local' connections.
The server must accept connections from any IP address or else nobody would be able to connect.

The only thing that could be done is to limit access to specific IP addresses if you want some kind of "Extranet" Palabre :) Célio Conort
