First game - 2007/06/09 14:27 Hi, I made a multiplayer game using palabre.

I didn't fully understand palabre when I made this game, so I tried making a real-time multiplayer game. It lags a lot and didn't do too well but I'm still happy with it since I learned a whole lot making it.

Also, now I know real-time games are most likely impossible for me right now, so I'm working on more efficient games that can handle lag (turn-based games and sudo real-time games).

Anyway, any feedback is appreciated.

Oh and no one plays it anymore so you are going to have to arrange for a friend to get on with you or open up two screens to test it.

I suggest that u modifies commands of keyboard movimentation.. to mouse clicks.. and shoots with keyboard ;)

im try to make a simple multiplayer game, but i rly confuse..

Re:First game - 2007/06/10 15:17 Hi, I would send the source code if I could, but I used 3DFA (www.3dfa.com) to create this game and it's source code is not compatible with Adobe Flash programs. If there is something specific you would like me to explain, I can do that though.

Just curious, how do you think modifying

commands of keyboard movimentation.. to mouse clicks.. and shoots with keyboard

would reduce lag? I have tried many combinations of sending messages and different controls and all of them still are either very unstable or lag a lot, so any tips you may have are appreciated.

if u use keyboard commands to movimentarion, the traffic of data is more intense..

and clicks little alliviates the flow of "packets/datas" but not alliviates real problem :/

because for tank1 walks of a point to another with keyboard , it goes to be sending the all time packets to server, but with clicks is nescessary only click to tank walk at another point... therefore 'reduces' lag.. ^^

Re:First game - 2007/06/14 14:28 im trying make a simple and clean tile based game, similar of "mouse move" in this tutorial.. but is very stressfull for me build the function to 'attachmovie' all chars and move to location by last clicks of clients (x,y) ...

we can use this topic to show examples..
(simple functions to add all char mc ..when any users join in lobby room, and remove char movieclip if he left room........ functions for when you receive a message with coordinates , and need move char mc for that coordinates.... and some more..)
It would make me very happy..lol..

SORRY, website is currently mostly broken due to software changes on the server.
Hope to fix it soon ...
