Another Problem... - 2008/09/09 16:56 Now I have another problem.
First: In Christmas I decide to make a very simple chat room with avatars in isometric, so i start getting more and more information, and i founded Tonypa's tutorials.
Then, i tried to make Tonypa ONLINE, I mean, if somebody moves, everybody should see him moving. TODAY i did it, after a lot of months learning, working and testing new things. So what's now my problem? My problem is that... it works VERY VERY slowly. With 2 people is OK, but with more than 2 people, doesn't work.
I think that the problem is in the .fla, because i tried to send very few information through the server, i mean, i don't send everytime the position in X and Y, i just send when one avatar change his tile, so instead of send 12 packets per second per user, i send only 1 packet per user everytime the user moves from one tile to another.
Is there anyway to solve this problem? Has anybody ever did a chat like this with Palabre and Tonypa's tuttos? If it, how does he make it work so there is a lot of lag?
Thanks,
Carlos

PD: Sorry about my VERY bad english :S but i hope you understand me ;)

Re:Another Problem... - 2008/09/10 07:33 Hi carlos !

Does your avatars move on a map with tile ?
If your client is slow, it's maybe beacause there is a lot of graphic.
I think Your client is maybe overloaded.

Re:Another Problem... - 2008/09/11 17:10 Hi Thrapple!
Thank you for your reply. My graphics are very very simple, just a box. Do you know Tonypa's tuttorial?
See: http://tonypa.pri.ee/tbw/tut18.html
Just that, but with a lot of users. I try, but I don't know why, it works very very slowly (with more than two people, it doesn't works).
I wan't to know if somebody has ever did a Chat like that and how does he make it.
What I do is:
1) When somebody enters the room, I load everyone in the tile they're (by looking at their params, there is one param whose name is positionx and another positiony).
2) When somebody moves, everytime the center of char is on the center of a new tile, i update the clientparam, so everybody knows where the char is.
3) Everytime the people recive a new clientparam, move the char who is sending the param to that new position.
Thanks,
Carlos

Re:Another Problem... - 2008/09/12 07:05 Hi Carlos !

Yes I know this very very good tutorial.
I create a projetc based on this tutorial.
Now it's very différent but the base is the same.

And when my client is overload I've got the same problem.
Otherwise do you launch your clients on the same computer ?
If there is a lot of clients on the same computer, that's can be slow.
